How to send a video instead of booking a meeting

A lot of meetings are one person explaining something while everyone else listens. That can be a short video instead: recorded once, watched when it suits, and kept for whoever joins later.

When a video beats a meeting

It is mostly one person showing or explaining.
People are in different time zones.
You would otherwise explain the same thing more than once.
It needs to be looked at, like a design, a bug or a spreadsheet.

When it does not

If the point is a decision that needs back and forth, or something sensitive, talk live. A video is a good way to start that conversation, not to replace it.

How to record one people watch

Say the point first. "This is a two-minute walkthrough of the new checkout. The one thing I need from you is a yes or no on step three."
Show, don't read. Point at the thing you are talking about.
Keep it short, then stop. If it runs long, that is fine. Trim the start and the end so it opens on the point.
Ask one clear question at the end.
