The software

Reverie — the extension, the recorder on this site and the Mac app — is proprietary software, licensed to you and not sold. You may use it for your own purposes, personal or commercial — including recordings you make for clients, employers or an audience. You may not redistribute, resell, reverse engineer or modify it, or bypass its licensing. The full licence is the End User Licence Agreement; this page covers the app, accounts, subscriptions and this website as a service.

Releases published before 4 August 2026 were made available under the MIT Licence. That grant still stands for those versions.

Tiers

Reverie has a seven-day free trial and one paid tier. There is no permanently free tier. What each includes:

The free trial

The trial runs for seven days from the moment you first sign in. It needs no card and nothing is charged when it ends — it simply ends. During it you have everything a Quick subscription has, at the same resolution and frame rate, with a small Reverie watermark burned into everything you record. Subscribing removes the watermark from everything you make from then on.

When the seven days are up: you stop being able to upload or download, and your existing share links keep working for a further seven days. After that the hosted copies are deleted. Anything you already downloaded to your own machine, or sent to your own Google Drive, is yours and is not touched. One trial per account, and we may refuse a trial to an account that appears to be a repeat of one already used.

Four things are never gated, on any tier, ever:

• Recording length. No tier meters how long a take can run.
• Recording count. No tier caps how many recordings you make.
• Where it is made. Every recording is captured, edited and encoded on your own machine, and never processed on our servers.
• Basic trimming. Every tier can cut a recording.

And a standing promise: a feature your subscription included when you signed up will not be moved behind a higher tier later. What you are paying for on the day you start is what you keep for as long as you keep paying.

Accounts

Paid tiers require an account, created with Google sign-in. An account is for one person; keep the email on it reachable, since it is how we tell you anything that matters about your subscription or your hosted files. What an account stores is described in the Privacy Policy.

The mailing list

There is a list you can join at reverie.video/signup to be told when Reverie opens. Joining it is not an account, is not a purchase, and entitles you to nothing beyond the emails you agreed to receive; nothing on that page is an offer or a promise of a date. You join it by ticking a box that starts empty, and you leave it at reverie.video/unsubscribe in one press. What the form collects and why is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions and billing

Paid tiers are billed as a monthly subscription through Paddle, who is the merchant of record — for payment purposes you are buying from Paddle, and Paddle handles payment processing, applicable taxes and invoicing under Paddle's buyer terms. We never see or store your payment details. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and keep the tier until the end of the period you paid for. If a price ever changes, existing subscribers get clear notice before their next renewal, and renewal at the new price is their choice.

When a subscription ends

If your subscription lapses, is cancelled, or a payment fails, nothing is deleted straight away. Anything you have already downloaded, or sent to your own Google Drive, is yours and is never touched. Two things change:

• Recording, uploading and downloading stop until you resubscribe.
• Your hosted videos enter a 30-day grace period: existing links keep working, but new uploads stop. After 30 days the hosted files are deleted and their links stop working. Resubscribe within the grace period and everything continues as before, with nothing lost.

The grace period after a trial is seven days, not thirty — see "The free trial" above. Thirty days is what is given to somebody who has paid.

Hosted storage

The free week includes 2 GB of hosted storage and Quick includes 50 GB. On this website, every take you record while signed in is uploaded to your Collection, and that is what uses it. The limit is a hard one, checked before an upload starts: if a video would not fit, the upload is refused with the numbers shown — it is never throttled, and you are never billed for overage, because overage cannot happen. Free up space by deleting videos from your Collection. Recording itself is never limited: a take that does not fit stays in your browser, and you can still export it.

If you move to a smaller tier while storing more than its limit, nothing is deleted: your existing links keep working, and new uploads are refused until you are under the new limit.

Share links

If you choose to send a recording to Google Drive, Reverie uploads to your own Google Drive and hands you Google's own link to your own file. Playback happens on Google's page, served by Google from your Drive. We do not host, proxy or re-serve that video, and nothing about the link depends on Reverie continuing to exist — it was never ours.

Videos in your Collection are served from our storage at a reverie.video link. Those links work for as long as the file is hosted: until you delete it, or until the grace period after a lapsed subscription ends. Anyone with a link can view it, so treat share links as you would any unlisted URL.

Your content

Your recordings are yours. We claim no rights over them. For videos in your Collection, you grant us only the permission needed to do the thing you asked for: to store the file and serve it to the people you share the link with. We never process, analyse or modify it — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what we can and cannot see. You are responsible for what you record and who you share it with — including having the right to record any people, screens, or material that appear in your videos, and complying with the recording-consent laws that apply where you are.

Acceptable use and takedown

Don't use Reverie to record or distribute anything unlawful, to capture people without the consent the law requires, or to infringe someone else's rights. For recordings on your own machine or your own Drive we cannot see your content and cannot police this — it remains your responsibility. For videos hosted on our storage, we can and will act: we may remove hosted content that is unlawful, infringing, or used to harm people, and repeated abuse may end the account.

To report a hosted video — copyright, privacy, or anything else — email [email protected] with the link and the reason. Reports are read by a person and acted on quickly.

Availability

Once a take has started it never depends on our servers: nothing is streamed while you record, and an outage on our side never stops a take in progress. The hosted parts — accounts, uploads, branded links — are provided as-is; we work to keep them up but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

No warranty

Reverie is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Recording software touches screen capture, cameras, microphones and uploads, and any of those can fail. Do not rely on Reverie as the sole record of something you cannot afford to lose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for lost recordings, lost time, lost data, or any other damages arising from use of the software or the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Google Drive

Connecting Google Drive is optional and subject to Google's own terms and your Google account's storage limits. Reverie requests only the drive.file scope, which reaches nothing but the files it creates; details are in the Privacy Policy. You can revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the current version always lives at this URL with its date. A change that matters to subscribers will be announced before it takes effect. Continuing to use Reverie after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of New Delhi. If you are a consumer, nothing here deprives you of protections that the law of your own country makes mandatory.

Who you are contracting with

Reverie is a trading name of Franz D'Sa, an individual developer at Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi 110016, India. These terms are between you and him, except that paid subscriptions are purchased from Paddle as merchant of record under Paddle's buyer terms. Nothing here creates a company, partnership or employment relationship.
